The state of the internet
Posted on 15. Jan, 2010 by Sheryl.
This was tweeted on twitter (where else), I thought it was so cool and mind blowing I wanted to share it. I think it was smashing mag that tweeted it, smashing mag is an integral part of daily life in the design world. Anyway if you have a few moments to spare (yeah right) check it out.

JESS3 designed and animated this for the JESS3 lecture at AIGA Baltimore in Feb 2010.

Blossom
Posted on 23. Dec, 2009 by Sheryl.

I had trouble thinking of a quirky title for this post – partly due to pre-xmas exhaustion but mostly because the name says it all really. ‘Blossom’ belongs to lifestyle coach Tracy Milich. Tracy contacted me to create her brand and website in a way that reflected herself and her business. She loves what she does, is positive and inspiring and loves bright colours. It has been a pleasure working with her and creating something so vibrant especially fitting at this time of year. Blossom is my last site for 2009 and sets the stage for a great 2010…

The beauty of Letterpress printing
Posted on 19. Dec, 2009 by Sheryl.

The people that know me well know that I am a complete paper/font/type nut! Nothing expresses my obsession more than the art of letterpress print. So when I recently met Shona from Auckland based Magpie Press we had alot in common. It’s been a real pleasure to create the Magpie Press brand, website and blog. You can view their wonderful works here at www.magpiepress.co.nz. See below to view more images of Letterpress…

4 new logo designs
Posted on 17. Nov, 2009 by Sheryl.

There was a time when logo design terrified me but now I love it, it’s probably my favourite part of design. The logo above is for a new South American Restaurant & Bar. The monkey is known as the Mico Leao (gold tamarind monkey) which is found in regions of South America and the name Armazem has significant meaning in the Brazilian culture, as the project unfolds I will write more about this.

Blog design – a blogging we shall go!
Posted on 12. Oct, 2009 by Sheryl.

Yet another trend in the cyber world but I’m convinced this ones a keeper. In simple terms a blog is like an online journal so it’s a chronological list of posts or entries. I love blogs, I promote them and would be happy for everyone to have a blog! They give you and your business an internet ‘voice’. You can express all the things you love and even all the things you don’t love (if you wish). They can be creative, wonderful, communicative tools and in many cases some very ordinary folk (the likes of you and me) have found fame and fortune via blogging but let’s save that for another blog post…

RSS, subscribe, feedreader explained simply
Posted on 08. Oct, 2009 by Sheryl.
“What on earth is RSS?” – I hear you say, “and those pretty little icons like the ones on the left (very often orange) that I see on alot of websites and blogs”. Well in actual fact RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is no deep mystery it’s a very useful tool and you’re about to learn why.
Basically RSS is internet technology that allows you to stay up to date with the changing content of a website or blog without actually having to visit that particular website or blog. You do this by ‘subscribing’ via RSS. Now traditionally ‘subscribing’ involves an exchange of money but in this case it’s absolutely FREE – great! Subscribing to a website or blogs content allows you to have complete control over the information you are receiving. You don’t have to cough up your email address or request to be unsubscribed when you’re well and truly sick of being harassed, you can end your relationship with any content feed at anytime, with one click and no-one need ever know. So it’s all very private – lovely…
