The people that know me well know that I am a complete paper/font/type nut! Nothing expresses my obsession more than the art of letterpress print. So when I recently met Shona from Auckland based Magpie Press we had alot in common. It’s been a real pleasure to create the Magpie Press brand, website and blog. You can view their wonderful works here at www.magpiepress.co.nz. See below to view more images of Letterpress…

If you don’t know what Letterpress printing is, it’s an old, traditional style of printing which is very manual. The plates are handmade and then ink is pressed into special paper stocks to created and embedded look. You can read more about it on the Magpie Press website. I am looking forward to having them print alot more stationery for me in the future, the two invitation images below are both my designs.

I’ve been wondering if there were any letterpress printers based in Auckland… previous searches didn’t come up with anything promising. This looks great!
